Pdf to Epub errors

I am beyond frustrated. I am trying to upload an ebook for into Ingramspark. The file has to be epub. When I converted the file and it did a check it sent me alllll of these errors. I am so not very tech savvy when it comes to this stuff, so if you have an answer for me can you please dumb it down to the simplest terms possible. Thank you so much for any help you can give me!

Thanks,
Frustrated Publisher

kobo/caliber problem with series/collections

Hi, i have a kobo aura and a windows 8.1. So the computer uninstalled caliber and i reinstalled it, it had the same settings, all the books from my library, i thought sweet! plugged in my kobo added some new books and sent them to the kobo. When i looked on the kobo under collections i couldn't see any of the new books, they were in the main library, but not the collections? any ideas? i'v been throughthe quick guide to shelf management, and everything is the same

One book I have isn't being sorted in the correct order

$

And I can't figure out why?

When I sort my books by author The Wolf of Wall Street is being sorted where I would expect it. However, when I sort by series the book is being displayed at the top of the list above the A's.

I've tried renaming the offending books metadata (series and author) and when I do the book sorts into the correct position. When I change the data back to what it should be the sort order gets messed up again.

Anyone have any ideas what the issue might be or how I might be able to fix it?

e-book Viewer: Copy Disabled

I'm using Calibre 2.28 64 bit on a Windows 8.1 machine. I can't copy any block of text in any book to the clipboard (using ebook viewer; if I open the book in the editor, I can copy text to the clipboard). Any ideas? Please?

Calibre only sends one book per author to Kindle?

$

Hi all,

I am a long-term lurker of these great boards and have spent many an hour just looking around and learning.

Now I find myself with my own query which I cannot find a solution for so I am hoping someone can help me with solving this.

When I select 2 or more books by the same author from my Calibre library and click the send to device it only copies over one book.

If I then select the un-copied books and click the send to device again it replaces the original sent book with the next book I have selected from the same author.

I am sure this is me configuring something incorrectly but for the life of me I can not figure out what...

It will show all the books on both Kindles if I drag and drop them manually from my Calibre library to the documents folder on the Kindles.

This issue started yesterday. Prior to yesterday the Paperwhite did not have this problem and had multiple books in its library from the same author.

What has changed -
  1. My partner received their new Kindle Voyge and after setting it up correctly this issue of one book per author is happening to them
  2. I by proxy how have their "old" Kindle Paperwhite and after deregistering and registering under my account and resetting the device this issue is now showing on the Paperwhite

All our books are in AZW3 format and neither Kindle has any books on them now apart from the shipped with user guide and directories.

I'm using the latest version of Calibre 2.28 64bit and its running on a windows 7 laptop.

I am at a complete loss as to why this is happening and really hope someone can help me sort this out.

Sorry for the long(ish) post but I've tried to give as much detail as possible.

DRM removal and conversion

$

I used to use calibre to convert kindle to epub, and I am sure I had a plug in to remove the drm.

Yesterday I updated calibre and the conversion no longer works.

Maybe I did something wrong.

I found a plug-in that supposedly works, but it failed.

What do I need to know, that I obviously don't?

Thanks.

I have a bunch of entries with a Hx followed by the rest of the chapter title in <p> tags

Code:

<h1>Chapter 1:*</h1>
<p>The Title</p>

What I'd like is

Code:

<h1>Chapter 1: The Title</h1>
My Find was *</h1>\s*<p>(.*?)</p>

My Replace was \1</h1>

but instead of just the text up to the first </p>, all the text is selected

Windows Calibre - normal Windows vs 64bit Windows

$

Hi Calibre Team or any other wise people.

I have been using Windows Calibre on my computer for a couple of years, instead of 64bit version (which my computer apparently is).

Will there be any issues with my Library etc. if I change to the 64bit Windows version with the next update?
Are there any benefits to this?

Appreciate any advice before I do the deed.

Changing a book's cover.

I wanted to change a book's cover so according to the instructions I highlighted the book and clicked "Edit metadata" I then "Browse(d)" to the new cover which I had saved as a .jpg file @600x800 size. It seemed to work using Calibre as my reader, but when I sideloaded it to my Kindle (Paperwhite) the "old" original cover still shows. I had completely removed the original files from the Paperwhite first. Any ideas?

Saved Search display issues

Hi, I'm using saved search panel as a tab together with the preview panel.
I saved a pair of very long searches. With the first one I find all chars except the ones included.
Here's how it shows on saved search:
http://i.imgur.com/518xNNs.png
I "solve" adding spaces between the chars... actually it shows like this:
http://i.imgur.com/SwsBpJ6.png
But this isn't a good solution...

The other one replace the word "css" with a css I created.
Here it is: http://i.imgur.com/yV6jqS1.png
Remove and edit buttons aren't reachable... If I double click on the search, it shows like this:
http://i.imgur.com/mkd84sp.png
So I can't modify it...

How can I fix these issues?

Any idea why

is not inserting a page break on a mac, but is on a PC?

Thanks!

Automatically remove justification when auto adding book?

When I import an EPUB and it is right-justified I can set the "Look and Feel" to Justify "Left Align" and manually convert the EPUB to EPUB and it is sucessfully un-justified.

But how do I do this automatically when Adding a Book or "Automatic Adding" it from a folder?

I have checked the "Automatically convert" option, but it is already EPUB so it doesn't get converted with my Look and Feel options.

Q: Regex Find and Replace delete surrounding tags

$

Hi all,

I have no clue what I'm doing, and now I'm stuck.

I apparently understand the find part of the Find and Replace function. It finds what it I want it to find, but the Replace section won't cooperate. So there's something I don't understand. Any help would be appreciated.

I converted a docx to epub using Calibre.

I am now using the Edit Book app in Calibre to do final polishing.

Calibre created a ton of <span class="calibre5"> tags. I'm learning to use css to format ebooks (and learning css). What I'm attempting to do is delete the opening span tag and the closing span tag and leave what's inside the tag alone. I am using css to do what the <span class="calibre5"> tag is already doing.

So I want to remove the span tags surrounding a string and leave the string untouched.

In the code I have this:

Code:

<span class="calibre5">The law is inevitable.</span>
I want to do a search and replace that leaves only this

Code:

The law is inevitable.
My Search string is:
Code:

<span class="calibre5">[^<>]+</span>
But anything I put in the Replace box gets literally replaced.

So if I put:
Code:

(?<=<span class="calibre5">)(.*?)(?=<\/span>)
Then instead of getting
Code:

The law is inevitable.
when I push Replace

I get:
Code:

(?<=<span class="calibre5">)(.*?)(?=<\/span>)

And if i put

Code:

/1
I get
Code:

/1
So you get the picture.

How can I learn what I'm doing wrong?

Moving Calibre library to new Kindle? Losing notes & bookmarks...

$

I've recently bought a generation 2 Paperwhite as an upgrade from Gen 1. I'm trying to transfer over about 50 books which I have on my old Kindle (all loaded and managed in Calibre).

I have tried a few different methods but none of them seem to retain my notes and bookmarks.

Can anyone explain the best way to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Calibre freezes when preparing bulk conversion

So I have been trying to convert my 8000 books from OPF format to EPUB, but everytime after they get queued for conversion Calibre goes unresponsive.

Is there a easier way to do this bulk conversion? Why does it keep freezing? Is it to many books at once to convert?

Side note: everytime I re-try converting them it continues to keep taking up space on my C: drive. I have moved my calibre folder to try and prevent this, but it still continues to take up space.

How can I force Calibre to add formats that are added manually to the respective f?

Hi

I created a script that converts pdf files to djvu files and copies them to their respective folders. It is all fine but is there a way to get Calibre to ad those dangling files to the proper book database ?

The djvu files are in the same folder as the original pdf files.

thanks

Calibre can't send mail?

Hi
I seem to be unable to send mail from Calibre. I've tried with GMX and Gmail and I consistently get the same error when pressing Test email settings, then filling in details and pressing Test:

Log:

I've checked both my addresses are added on Kindle settings, however this seems to be a mail sending issue, not a mail being rejected issue. I can send fine when I use the GMX or Gmail email clients.

I am on OS X Yosemite
Calibre 2.29.0
python version 2.7.9(Anaconda 2.2.0 (x86_64))

Can anyone out there help? This seems like a bug?

How to ignore a certificat error in a recipe?

I am the author of this recipe: https://github.com/kovidgoyal/calibr...agazine.recipe that stopped working today because the server hosting the content apparently did something to its configuration. When I try to login via Opera 12, it says that certificates mismatch (see screenshot for details). Firefox complains too. I can choose to ignore the message and it allows me to login.

Calibre fails saying this:

I plan to contact the site administrators with a request to fix it, but in the meantime (or if they are not responsive), is it possible to ignore the error?

I use this method:

Code:

def get_browser(self):
        br = BasicNewsRecipe.get_browser(self)
        if self.username is not None and self.password is not None:
            br.open('https://muj-ucet.ihned.cz/')
            br.select_form(name='login')
            br['login[nick]'] = self.username
            br['login[pass]'] = self.password
            br.submit()
        return br

and the code fails on executing br.submit(). I am not sure if the last FAQ here: http://docs.python-requests.org/en/l...community/faq/ is related, I rather think not.
