Kobo don't recognize new books

Hello,

I've a problem with the new Kobo Aura of my wife:
The reader dont recognize the books I've added with calibre.

But the files are well on the kobo ... I don't understand ...

I try to add new books on my kobo Aura HD, and I've the same problem ....

Could you help me ?

Library on a samba share

Hello there

My library is located on my nas and exported via samba. This has been working for years now without a single hick up.
After upgrading to Ubuntu 15.04 this no longer works and i get a "database read only error". It still works under older Ubuntu versions, still works in Windows.
I understand that the FAQ says its not recommended but i was hoping maybe anyone in here has run into a similar problem and may has a solution.

Metadata download: Only ISBN (example)

When I do a quality check on my library, specifically ISBN data, it doesn't give errors, although there are quite a few without ISBN.

Is there a way I can get Calibre to only download and update ISBN (for example)?

New docx conversion

For once, no question, no bug report, only thank you!
In a twinkle of an eye, it does everything I did manually before when exporting epub to word processor formats.
Completely different of the old RTF export, which was not aimed to create ebook source files.

Ebook-viewer: fail when opening an ePub from Firefox

I have recently upgraded both calibre and firefox, so I'm not sure where the problem is.

If I try to open an epub file from firefox, by clicking on a link (any book in the MR library) and then selecting ebook-viewer as the application to open the file with, I get this error:

If I save the file instead, then I can open it with no problem. Also, this worked fine before the mentioned upgrades, and it works with other file types.

Problem of math formula when converting azw3 to pdf

I used Calibre to convert azw3 to pdf file. But after conversion, math formulas in the original azw3 file cannot be shown correctly in the pdf file, and all those formulas are shown in white blanks. Can this problem be solved?

A question about html conversions and script

I was wondering if the script in html files is ... well if not removed deactivated... in epubs.

I had an epub made with old html files that was loaded with script and loaded ever so slow and that made me curious.

Lost Quality Frontcover or Backcover after converting

When I have a good front and backcover or another picture in/for the book there is quality lost after converting.

You can see this when you have letters on a picture in the ebook.

How to get the same quality before and after converting the ebook?

I set up the Calibre server for the first time but when I go to an author and select it then choose sort by Series it lists the books in descending order. Is there a way to display them in ascending order?

On Device status question

I know that if I plug my Kindle PW into Calibre, I get a column showing which books are on device.

Is there any way I can record this status in a custom column?

It seems to me the problem with doing this is may be that the 'on device' column is transient and reference to it goes when the device is ejected.

I use several devices:

- Android Galaxy S4: 1920x1080
- Android Wiko Cine Peax 2: 960x540
- Sony PRS-T1: 800x600

Which profile (and why?) should i set under "Prefs/convert/page setup/..." for optimal results on my devices?

Display books in the library

Hello,

I use a reding "pocketbook touch lux 2" to read my e-books.

I always use the calibre's translator to format my ebooks to always have the same format :
"name, first name - Title".

In the library of my reader, ebooks should appear in directories by author, by title.
However, some appear as name, first name - title instead of the title only.
Example : Loti, Pierre - Ramuntcho instead of Ramuntcho.

I can't find where this parameter is in the ebook to solve this problem.
Can you help me ?

Output option gives error

Search and replace wish

As I'm going through a book that has page numbers scattered throughout using regex I find myself wishing once again that there was a way to count the matches before starting the replacement.

Once I do a replace all it quickly tells me how many instances are replaced so this information must be rather easy to access.

When I click the Author's tab (the little arrow to the right) nothing happens.

When I do the same to the authors tag it sorts.

This is version 2.28 on Windows ver 8.1.

Internal images missing

Hello,

I purchased several Kindle ebooks (azw3) with internal images. While the cover is always present, the internal images are missing. It appears a "?" in their place, and the corresponding file (i.e. image001.unknown, 4kb) seems empty (if I save it with the Calibre editor to disk).

Is there a way to restore the images?
I'm using the latest version of Calibre for Windows.

Best title system for manga?

Hello again everyone,

I'm a little OCD about organizing my calibre library. A lot of it is manga that I have converted for my kindle paperwhite 2 with Kindle Comic Converter. Some manga has a title for the volume, some don't and the kindle doesn't show as much information as calibre does, so I want the titles to be informative but not so long that they're overly truncated and unreadable on the kindle in list view (since they can be hard to distinguish by cover art alone)

So here's my problem, I want to have a consistent title scheme for any manga. i.e.
Attack on Titan, Vol. 01: Prototype (this seems like an okay balance between size and info, idk)
Attack on Titan, Vol. 1: Prototype
Attack on Titan, Volume 01: Prototype
Attack on Titan, Volume 1: Prototype
Volume 01: Prototype
Volume 1: Prototype
Attack on Titan: Prototype
Attack on Titan - Volume 01
Attack on Titan - Volume 1
Attack on Titan - V1
Attack on Titan - V01
etc etc

KCC, when using it's metadata feature (which makes it so it doesn't put KCC as the author which i hate) will style it like: Attack on Titan V1 #1 which may work for american comics that are sorted by volume/issue #'s, but not so good for manga. And it doesn't have an option for a volume's title if it has one.

I know this is kind of anal, but do any of you guys have a consistent scheme you use for titling manga? I'm only worried about the title cause that's what shows up on the kindle and what things will be sorted by. :help:

EDIT: While searching I also just came across some plugboard thing? So that calibre would convert a books title when transferring to kindle so that kindle shows all the info i want in title, without actually having to manually enter it in the title in calibre. Would that be better?

Ebook view 'sticky' when scrolling up

On my mac I've noticed that scrolling up slowing is 'sticky' in the calibre ebook viewer. If you scroll slow enough it stops even though scrolling down at the same speed works fine. I thought it was my imagination at first but it is very consistent and it's the same on my trackpad and magic mouse so this is not a hardware thing. Also no other program exhibits this behavior, including Calibre itself. For some reason it seems like there is a threshold scrolling rate to scroll up but not to scroll down in the ebook reader. I often overshoot when I speed up my scroll to get over the threshold. This is really very frustrating for reference/text books where I'm constantly moving around up and down the material.

search by born date?

Hi :)
I have add a column named "born" and I have enter the born date of my author, for example 1920 or 1946 or 1790
Now I want to create a virtual library search for every hundred years, so, for example, if I create a virtual library of 1900 in the results I have all authors born during that time, as in 1920 or 1946.
So I created a virtual library with this command:

#born: "= 19"

but I do not know what is the wildcard to search for all numbers after 19 :(
