Calibre Email To Kindle Stopped Working

$

I've used Calibre alongside my Kindle 3 for the past 4 years with no problem at all. Since yesterday, books emailed from Calibre to my Kindle no longer arrive. I tried using the test email function on Calibre and it reports success. Also, I can email to Kindle manually using gmail. It's probably something simple but I just can't figure out what's changed. Any ideas anyone?

Metadata on device different to Calibre

I have Kindle Voyage. All my metadata in Calibre are perfect (ie. author name/surname in correct order, series filled in, everything with correct diacritics (using czech language which have many of those)).

I use one plugboard for connecting series names to book titles.

Sometimes, but only sometimes, this fails and the title displayed on Kindle is wrong. I can't find out the reason.

All the cases are stored as MOBI in Calibre, all have the unwanted metadata stored in them and on transfer, althought they're somehow changed by Calibre, the unwanted metadata are used by Kindle, not those wanted.
All of these have small 'DOC' displayed to the reading dots in the latest Voyage firmware, but not all which have DOC are these cases.

Why, and how can this be fixed?

Example:
This is mobi file in calibre run through ebook-meta.exe (unwanted)
Title : Husitská trilogie - 3 - Lux Perpetua
Author(s) : Sapkowski Andrzej

This is mobi file on the device (wanted)
Title : Husitská trilogie-003:Lux perpetua
Author(s) : Andrzej Sapkowski

But Kindle displays the original metadata... I also tried the binary editor and it seems that original file has one EXTH record, but these 'bad' have two of them, one good, one bad and Kindle displays the bad one.

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone can help me.. I have a couple of devices.. all of which are Kindles, which work perfectly in Calibre.

I've just picked up a cheap Nook Simple Touch Glow to use on holiday.. But calibre cant communicate with it..

I get the following when I use the debug device connection:

Code:

calibre 2.50.1 [64bit]  isfrozen: True is64bit: True

Custom column not expanded

Hello:
Let's see if I can explain well. After the last update, the custom columns no longer expand by entering the first letter or character. At first capture you can seen as column expands to author name, but for the nationality column, see that income the letter F and having data that begin with that letter, nothing is displayed, like there's no data.

What's happend?

Plugin toolbar question

Hello,

The icon for one of my plugins, Import List, appears in the main toolbar, and also in another otherwise empty ribbon above the status bar. I need help figuring out how to get rid of the second instance?

Does Calibre have the kind of general toolbar customization usually found in a Windows View menu?

Thanks,
CC

Book List showing more than Selected Author

I'm not sure what happened -- i would select an author in the tag browser and the book list would display all books by that author.

Now when I select an author the book list displays all my books but the books by the selected author are displayed in green.

How do I go back to displaying only the books by the selected author?

Delete Original Files?

$

Just downloaded Calibre. Great tool! From what I can tell when I add a book to Calibre it creates a duplicate file inside the "Calibre folder" thus leaving me with two copies of the book on my hard drive? Is this correct? It seems I should delete the original file once Calibre has indexed the book?

Second question, I've gone to a lot of trouble creating a folder/subfolder hierarchy on my HD to sort my books. It appears that with Calibre this is no longer necessary. Now I can dump the books into a general folder, index them with Calibre and then delete the original file from the general folder. Does that sound right?

Thanks

Restoring custom columns from opf metadata?

$

Is there a way to restore the custom column data from the metadata opf files? I know that calibre edits the opf file when changing column data.

I had a column of "Date Read" for my books that I sync with goodreads but I accidentally deleted the Date Read column when I was messing with the column preferences (yikes).

So is there a way to tell calibre to restore the data or is all the data deleted from the opf files when I deleted the custom column?

Export single article epub from a news source

Hi,

I frequently fetch a news source like the New York Time and would like to export an epub of a single article or a small number of articles. Is there a convenient way to do that without having to deal with the whole issue?

I have been an enthusiastic user of Calibre for years and love it,

Thanks in Advance,
Don

Calibre Row Height

I have just updated my Calibre Portable from a very early version. In the early version I could view 24 books per screen but in this newer one I can only get 18 - the row height of the library list has increased. Is there a way I can change this to get 24 displayed as before?

Sorry if this has been answered earlier but I have just spent an hour trying to find an answer this so I hope someone can help me please.

Calibre can't see Tolino Shine anymore

Calibre can't see Tolino Shine anymore...

This happened a few months ago. It worked a few months on windows 10, and then the "sent to" button" disappeared. I have one USB-port which detects the device in explorer, so I can load books manually... but there is no activation in Calbre. There are no ignored devices. The plugin is enabled.

What did I do :
Tolino updated to v1.8.2--- Updated windows 10---Updated Bios to latest version --- updated Calibre to 2.64.0 --- tried several compatiblilty modes (W7,W8)
Found this idea on internet : to change "User Defined USB driver" https://papierlos-lesen.de/tolino-vi...bre-verbinden/ but no result.

All this had no results : So I am getting a bit hopeless

Changing author sort metadata on Kindle via Calibre

I have always used Calibre to transfer books to my Kindle, and the author's names have always sorted by first name on the device and by last name in the Calibre library. I understand that this is because I didn't take the time to figure out how to change the metadata properly for device transfer. It didn't bother me because ALL my books were sorted that way.

But now I've started to enjoy some of the Kindle book features that are not available when books are "liberated". These books are directly downloaded from Amazon and, of course, they sort by author's last name.

Before I make a mess trying to make my library consistent, is it possible to plug my Kindle into my PC, view the books on the device in Calibre, bulk change the metadata there, and save the books back to my device without getting duplicate copies or having the books drop out of my collections? We're talking hundreds of side-loaded books.

Thanks!

Linux + Calibre + Boyue T62D + MTP = Problems... for me

I am new to Linux. Used to use Windows.

I have 2 Linux set-ups now: Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 LTS and Zorin OS11 (based on Ubuntu 15 if I understand correctly). Both these behave the same way in this case.

I have a Boyue T62D (running the Energy Sistem firmware)
When I have the "USB Connect Mode" set to "MTP" (Under Settings > User settings), I experience exactly the issue mentioned here: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=271220 (Calibre 2.51.0 triggers MTP failure with particular device)
(The MTP device mounts OK when plugged into the USB port, and I can see and browse the contents, but as soon as I start Calibre, then it seems to unmount -> try to re-mount -> unmount -> try to re-mount...etc. until I close Calibre or unplug the device.)

When I set "USB Connect Mode" set to "Mass Storage", everything works as expected.

Under Windows, both settings work without problems.

Other MTP devices (Nexus 7 and Samsung phone) works correctly in MTP mode.

I suspect it is a Ubuntu<>Calibre<>T62D issue, but am not sure where to start looking for a solution... Any advice or pointers would be appreciated.

Email to Kindle - plugboard behavior inconsistent

If I use Calibre's email feature to email to my Kindle address, sometimes the title plugboard is effective, sometimes it's not. It is consistent within a book (book X works, book Y never works) but I've tried tweaking various things and can't get it to ever take effect on book Y.

If I email book Y to my own email address, the plugboard is effective.

My only working theory is that there are multiple possible "title" metadata fields, and some other one than the expected is preferred by the Kindle PDOC importer.

Have tried both old and both for MOBI conversion.

Plugboard is
any format:email = {series:|| }{series_index:0>2s|[|]: }{title} -> title

Does anybody already know the solution, or how can I better troubleshoot?

:chinscratch: For a while, I have been wondering why the Library Icon did not have an Arrow to indicate a menu

Today, I had the K4 attached :smack:

Is this just Windows?

New Yorker misses some articles

I've noticed for a few weeks that the New Yorker recipe seems to miss an article or two each issue. e.g. just now it missed the articles "Total Recall" and "Briefly Noted" from:

Line spacing with sub- and superscripts

I have various books with subscripts or superscripts in them and I am trying to convert them via Calibre from RTF to LRF format. The output file always increases the line height in the lines where these codes are and I wondered if it was possible to change something so that the line space was the same throughout. I have attached a small RTF file I have set up to test this and the output LRF file.

Create tags while importing from source folder structure

Hi folks,

I've done some amount of classifying of my book collection, but on first couple of trials importing to Calibre no tags were created (unchecking 'Read metadata from file contents rather than file name' made no difference)

The source folder structure has for instance
Business
> Entrepreneurship
>> Business Model Generation (PDF Templates)
> Leadership
>> Team Leader

How can I setup the import process to write a tag for the Folder/Sub-Folder Name?

Many thanks
/Eamonn
