Please can you someone help! Have used Windows 7 Add / Remove Programs to uninstall Calibre but it has left me with the folder C:\Program Files\Calibre2 in which there is one subfolder \DLLs. This subfolder contains 4 DLLs and 3 .XML files which I am unable to delete/remove (I get a Windows error message saying there is an I/O error). I cannot reinstall Calibre and I cannot complete remove it and just seem to be going around in circles. Any advice would be most gratefully received.

Editor as Stand alone
Is it possible to just load Calibre Editor on a PC ?
It would be useful to have the ability to edit epubs on a couple of other PCs on our Network.
It is not necessary for these machines to have all of Calibre as they would simply be given a document to edit and then the resulting epub would be imported into the machine running Calibre. (as the books are on a NAS drive, I do not want them being accessed by "other Calibres" ) and they don't need the full software overhead.

Restore Feature Request: Highlight Search Results Button
Please restore the feature button that toggles the "Highlight search results instead of restricting book results" button to the main screen. You took the button away in a recent update.
I understand the need to have a setting in preferences; however, maybe you can keep it both places.
I manage a large library constantly importing books. When I search for duplicates, it toggles the "Highlight search results instead of restricting book results". It would be great to have the toggle button back since I use the duplicate search function often.

Transfering Kindle Content
I have been using Calibre to manage the content on my Kindle with Keyboard. However, I just had to buy a new Kindle because the screen on my old one broke. I was wondering if there is a way I can transfer everything over to my new kindle from my old one using Calibre. I had a lot of folders set up that I don't want to have to redo manually. I also have a mix of books that I have purchased from Amazon and have downloaded from other places, so it would be a pain to get everything back to where it was.
Any input would be extremely helpful!

Drop Down Selection Boxes Are Drop Up!
Hi all,
Since there is a lack of furor over this, my problem is PROBABLY something of my own making. But here goes. Since the update to v1.32x64, when I edit or right-click or click on a button that would result in a drop down menu, the menu appears at the top of the screen, under the confluence of the Convert Books and Save to Disk buttons on the main toolbar. For example, right clicking on the cover image in the right pane does this:

To the best of my knowledge, everything else on my Win7x64 box is operating correctly. I did patch on Thursday of last week but haven't seen any deleterious effects. I have opened and closed Calibre. The effect persisted through a reboot. It's not that the issue is debilitating. It's just annoying right now.
Any ideas on how I might fix the situation? Thanks in advance.

Problems with ecalibre help if you can.
I have some textbooks and I would like to share them with a friend. The problem is that when I try to click on the book it is opened with the windows 8 reader app and I can't get it to open in ecalibre. Furthermore, my objective was to see if it was possible to add annotations into the text. Both myself and my friend was to add annotations into the physics textbooks as one may do with a physical textbook. If anyone could tackle these to problems I would appreciate it.

Calibre 1.32 Windows 64 bit cannot cannot modify library on network shares. This is not a permissions problem.
I first encountered this in 1.31, and I hoped the upgrade would resolve it. bit it does not.
I can only add books, and cannot convert, add covers, or change metadata. If I copy the library to a local directory, all works as expected.
The problem is the same if it is a UNC path, or if it is mapped to a network drive. The path names are not long. For example the library "reference" is in "G:\media\ebooks\reference"
Other software has no problem modifying any files in this network share.

View pdf from Calibre as original (without changing)
Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to see pdf formats in Calibre in some viewer without changing it (just like it is in Adobe Acrobat and others)? I know I can set in settings formats which are open by Calibre viewer and which are not and set pdf to be open in OS default viewer. But I like the function in Calibre where I can start read from where I ended last time (if I open it by Adobe I always start from first page). Is it possible?

Support for O'Reilly HTMLBook conversions?
O'Reilly Media is developing a potential file format specification for authoring print and eBooks which looks like it could be an excellent starting point for high quality conversions to other formats. Is this something that make sense as a calibre supported format, and if so, is anyone working on this?

regex behaving greedier?
I try to remove unwanted "span's" of the form:
and used to use the following regex in find:
However, this no longer works as now *everything* is found up to the terminating <p><crlf> or until a second terminating </span> when this is found earlier just before the terminating <p><crlf>.
It seems that regex behaves now greedier (while dotall is *not* enabled) then before. What am I missing?

Conversion removes all my edits in book
I have an epub in which I edited a few typos and the ToC. Then I used conversion to epub to remove fonts and justify text. When I checked the new epub, all my previous edits where gone. Not just the ToC was as it had been originally, but also my corrections were gone. How can this happen?

I appreciate how it does exactly what I need to, without being too complicated. I also like how it's very frequently updated; but, I get an update every week or two.
So I was wondering if it could be an idea to implement the updates; i.e. to download and install the updates automatically.

How do I update the site password for fetch newsfeed?
Some websites that I fetch news from, in particular the Economist, have updated the SSL version because of Heartbleed and now are asking every user to update their password.
I am pretty certain that I added my user and password for the Economist at one point so Calibre could access.
Now that I've changed my password on the website, how do I update that password in Calibre?
I can't find the place in the Schedule News Downloads to change the password.
(I don't seem to find mention of passwords in the Manual and only find recipe code that shows password on the web but not how to change. I don't know enough to modify code.)

Calibre and Paperwhite
Hi, am STILL having problems delivering books to Kindle Paperwhite.....the only way I can do it at the moment is to convert to AZW3 (it won't accept MOBI at all), and connect Kindle PW via USB to PC to transfer from Calibre to PW
Calibre completes the email to device no problem, but they just don't show up in PW, although I can see them in windows explorer when it's connected, but I can't find them on device (no they're not in 'docs') so have to use Calibre to deliver to device via USB
I even reset the device as advised in previous posts and lost all my books, re added them one by one...
can anybody help me, it's driving me mad! :help:

How Do I Rename Files?
When I convert a book in Calibre, it names the file with the Title of the book then a dash then the author. I really want to have the author name first and the title second. Seems like an easy thing to do but I can't figure it out. Not talking about the metadata, just the actual file Calibre creates. Please help this newbie....

In the TOC Editor the up/down arrows don't move the entries up/down; instead, they change the heading level of the entry just like the two horizontal arrows.
Also in the TOC Editor, a re-generation of the TOC adds the new entries to the previous list instead of replacing it.

How to make search work like it used to?
Sorry if this is a really silly question but somewhere among the many calibre updates the search function has gone from bringing up all answers to the search topic and NOTHING ELSE in the main screen which if I remember correctly you then clicked off the search to get back to viewing your entire library and it now searches and HIGHLIGHTS within the main screen in green - How on earth can I get back to a search only showing search results not highlights in green? I have a very large library and highlighting is no help.
Any help with this would be so very much appreciated.

Javascript files not referenced in ebook-editor

The Calibre ebook reader does very well with Javascript. But, when you add some Javascript file to an ebook with the Ebook Editor, these files are not automatically referenced in the content.opf file (unlike other files such as html, jpeg, gif, css, mp3, movies,...).
I can be a great work to reference by hand all these files (I think especially with the MathJax library that allows the display of mathematics in html files). Would it be possible that, in the future, the Ebook Editor references the Javascript files in the content.opf (I think it's not a big deal to add this functionality and it would be very useful).
