Adding Page Numbers to books on Kindle?

I just upgraded from a 1st generation Nook to a Kindle Paperwhite. I'm loving it in general, but my one gripe is that I desperately miss having page numbers. I understand the reasons why Kindle doesn't have them, that their Location system is supposedly a more accurate means of displaying your progress, but I still miss having page numbers, even if they are inaccurate.

I know that the Kindle will display page numbers if the information is present in the ebook file. I also know that later versions of Calibre have a plugin which supposedly will add page numbers, but so far I've been unable to figure out how to do it. I've been converting a lot of my epub books to azw3 and still can't get page numbers to show up on the progress display.

When I use the "Go to..." feature, it does allow me to select a page to navigate to, which leads me to believe that Calibre has in fact added the page numbers in some fashion. They're just not showing up on the progress display for some reason.

Any ideas?
